Anti-sensitivity soothing star - Avenanthramides
Itching
Itching is an unpleasant skin sensation that causes a desire to scratch. It is a self-protective response mechanism in the physiological state of the body and is one of the main symptoms of many skin diseases and systemic diseases.
Conduction pathway of itching
When the skin is stimulated by pruritogenic substances, the itch receptors transmit nerve impulses to the posterior horn of the spinal cord, then through the spinothalamic tract to the thalamus, and finally to the somatosensory cortex. The special response patterns and projections formed in the periphery and the center are the neuroanatomical basis for the formation of itching. Itch receptors are a subtype of special unmyelinated nerve endings C fibers in the skin that are sensitive to histamine.
Histamine pathway
Among them, histamine, as one of the most common substances in the conduction mediators of itching, has been considered an important bioactive substance that causes itching. Studies have shown that many endogenous and exogenous pruritogens release histamine-like substances when acting in skin tissues, and act on target cells on the surface of human skin, thus causing itching.
Histamine is mainly present in mast cells and basophils. After stimulation, the cells degranulate and release histamine, which can stimulate C-fiber endings and related receptors to produce itching and pain.
Why does it sometimes itch more when you scratch?
Scratching is also a stimulation to the skin, which can activate nerve fibers and produce pain. This pain has an antipruritic effect. However, scratching can cause the skin to release more histamine, thereby aggravating the itching sensation, forming a vicious cycle of itching and scratching, ultimately leading to more serious skin damage and inflammation.
Want to quickly relieve itching, and safely ?
“Bo Xuetang” has a solution!
Avenanthramides, also known as dihydroavenanthramide, is one of the main components of oat extracts, mostly found in the bran and secondary aleurone layer of the outer layer of the grains, and has rapid anti-inflammatory and antipruritic activity.
Clinical trials have shown that oats have the effect of treating dry skin itching, inflammation, and reducing skin erythema. Recent studies have shown that the components with anti-inflammatory and antipruritic activity are avenanthramides.
It has been widely used to treat skin problems since the 19th century. It mainly achieves anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects by inhibiting histamine signal transduction.
01、 Avenanthramides have the effects of anti-allergy, anti-inflammation, anti-oxidation, anti-irritation, and improvement of erythema. They can relieve or improve itching, irritation, and redness of sensitive skin, and are widely used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic fields.
02、 In the cosmetics field, avenanthramides can relieve skin erythema and itching in private parts, and soothe scalp itching. They are increasingly used in cleansing products, post-sun repair products, and skin care products.
03、 In the pharmaceutical field, avenanthramides can replace glucocorticoids and be used as anti-inflammatory and antipruritic agents in various skin cream products to treat contact dermatitis, eczema, and tinea pedis.
Avenanthramides
A potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and antipruritic natural ingredient
Studies have shown that avenanthramides have multifunctional anti-inflammatory activity, including inhibiting IκB-α degradation (NF-κB inhibitor), preventing phosphorylation of the NF-κB subunit p65 protein, thereby blocking the occurrence of cell inflammation; reducing the occurrence of inflammatory immune responses and the response of skin neurodermatitis.
Avenanthramides can inhibit NF-κB activity and reduce the release of inflammatory factors and IL-8, which causes atopic dermatitis. At a low concentration of 30 ppm, avenanthramides can significantly reduce the number of times of itching in contact dermatitis and neurodermatitis.
The above data show that avenanthramides have potent anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties, and are a potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and antipruritic natural ingredient, with efficacy comparable to hydrocortisone.
Under the same concentration conditions, the inhibitory effect of avenanthramides is 20 times that of hydrocortisone, and it does not have any side effects of steroid hormones.
Rapid itching relief
Generally speaking, the degree of itching in human skin is not as intense as that of mice directly applying histamine-producing agent compound 48/80;
After applying avenanthramides to human skin itching, the itching sensation is significantly improved within 3 to 5 minutes. Therefore, avenanthramides have strong antipruritic and soothing activity.
Relevant studies have shown that 30 ppm avenanthramides has a significant antihistamine effect. Within 30 minutes, the degree of itching, erythema, and edema is reduced by more than 50%; after 90 minutes, itching is basically not felt, and erythema and edema have basically disappeared.
Natural structure, equivalent efficacy
Avenanthramides have a strong antihistamine effect, which is related to their similar structure to the potent antihistamine drug cetirizine.
Natural plant structure
Dihydro Avenanthramides
Similar to the antihistamine drug cetirizine, it can exert multiple effects such as antihistamine, antioxidant, anti-irritation, anti-inflammatory, and improvement of erythema, and has good effects in relieving itching, irritation, and redness of sensitive skin.
Anti-allergic special drug
Cetirizine Cetirizine
Antihistamines, as mediators of allergic reactions, stabilize mast cell and basophil membranes. Suitable for the treatment of bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, etc.
Mechanism of Action
Histamine is a chemical substance produced by the human body that acts as a neurotransmitter and aids in immune responses. As an internal response to external pathogens, this substance is produced by basophils (a type of white blood cell) and mast cells (cells in connective tissue similar to basophils). Histamine helps fight infection by making capillaries more permeable to white blood cells that fight pathogens.
The release of histamine in affected tissues can promote itching. Scratching provides temporary relief due to pressure, but it also promotes the release of more histamine, worsening the itch, creating a vicious cycle of itch-scratch that leads to more severe skin damage and inflammation. Therefore, inhibiting histamine release effectively reduces itching.
